If you're compassionate, fluent in English, and can volunteer for 3 or 4 hours per week (2-3 month commitment), we want YOU to help lawful, permanent residents of Houston learn to speak English and prepare for the US citizenship test and interview. You'll meet some amazing people and experience the joy of helping them make a permanent commitment to our community!
When immigrants become citizens, they make a deeper investment in their communities, and more fully participate in democratic life. The result is stronger communities yielding benefits to all inside: employers, local government, and all of us.
NO prior teaching experience or second language is required. If this volunteer opportunity is for you, we'll train you (one day, free), match you with a small group of adult learners and support you as you get started on the exciting and hugely rewarding activity of helping your neighbors gain English language skills (ESL) and learn the citizenship content required for the naturalization interview and test.
Please get in touch for further information, including how to get started at a one-hour tour of our classroom space. Kindly check your spam account for our reply. Sometimes messages are blocked by email filters.
