Pagus: Africa works with youth in Ghana’s Volta Region as the Center for Achievement. We believe the most effective way to facilitate long-term sustainable change is to empower youth to be equipped to intelligently face life’s challenges and able to assist in the development of their own villages and in the global community.
Members of the Board support the work of the organization and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the organization's Executive Leadership, the Board's relationship with the executive team is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
Leadership, governance, and oversight:
Board Members of the Organization will consider it a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority so that Pagus: Africa can credibly solicit contributions from other foundations, corporations, and individuals. Pagus: Africa expects to have all Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity. There is no specific amount required. In addition to a personal contribution, Board Members are asked to leverage their personal and professional networks to help raise funds from others aligned with our mission and goals
Pagus: Africa’s Board Members will serve a three-year term and is eligible for re-election for additional terms. Board meetings will be held quarterly, and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about PAGUS: Africa’s mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.
Service on Pagus: Africa’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
