Job description

Children’s Law Center fights so every District child can grow up with a loving family, good health and a quality education. Judges, pediatricians and families turn to us to be the voice for children who are abused or neglected, who aren’t learning in school, or who have health problems that can’t be solved by medicine alone. With 100 staff and hundreds of pro bono lawyers, we reach 1 out of every 9 children in DC’s poorest neighborhoods – more than 5,000 children and families each year. And, we multiply this impact by advocating for city-wide solutions that benefit all children. Learn more at childrenslawcenter.org.

Responsibilities

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant works with the Evaluation and Learning Team to strengthen CLC’s ability to report on program impact and build an organizational culture that uses data to improve programs and practices. The position involves preparing daily reports, following up with staff to ensure compliance with data entry protocols, training staff to work with data collection and case management systems, revising and establishing systems for improved reporting and use of data. The position is appropriate for someone interested in children, poverty, or legal systems who may be considering a career in evaluation, applied research, or data science.

Requirements and Qualifications

The position requires daily interaction with reporting systems and numeric and text forms of data. An ideal candidate will love data and be interested in helping others use data to inform and improve their work. Demonstrated problem solving capabilities, “can-do” attitude, and willingness to learn new things required! Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize tasks and work independently are required. Previous experience working with legal case management systems, databases, Tableau, statistical analysis programs, or in an applied research setting desired. Skills in promoting process improvement preferred.
