Job description

The Social Media Specialist will collaborate with an energetic team of Development and Communications professionals to advance the mission of Catholic Charities by developing, managing and building the Agency’s online presence as well as providing administrative support services for the department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with program and development staff to identify social media content, topics, and information flow.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action.
  • Build the agency’s online presence by increasing the number of “friends” and “likes” on Facebook and utilize Twitter to deliver consistent messaging.
  • Keep current with computer support systems within the Agency and ensure accurate data into systems, including entering all donations/contributions received into Donor Perfect (fundraising software). 
  • Generate all donor acknowledgment letters through utilization of the Donor Perfect “batch” system in a timely and efficient manner for department head/executive staff signature.
  • Assist in fundraising activities that include setting up and breaking down, ensuring all supplies and equipment are on hand and available.
  • Provide administrative support including answering phones, sorting mail, preparing correspondence, coordinating meetings with supplies and refreshments, and performing routine bookkeeping


  • Requirements

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with social media.
  • 1-3 years’ administrative support experience.
  • Marketing and/or fundraising experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office and Donor Perfect.
  • Ability to travel locally to attend fundraising events.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program events.
