Lead coaching sessions in stunning rural Ghana and highlight the importance of getting fit and having fun at the same time!
Volunteers are needed to work within the community, coaching a variety of sports to pupils in a rural community school. This is a fantastic opportunity for volunteers who would like to share their love of sport through coaching sessions and activities for children from 6 years old to adults. Volunteers can teach:
The children love to learn new sports and games so volunteers are welcome to coach any other sports they have an interest in! Although some experience in coaching and teaching sports is useful, volunteers are not required to have professional sports qualifications, just lots of enthusiasm and a passion for sport!
How will I make a difference?
Volunteers are able to provide additional sport coaching sessions, teach new games and new skills which wouldn’t be possible due to the schools limited resources. They are able to share their ideas with the current teachers who can pass on their knowledge to their future pupils.
The Sports Coaching project has encouraged community wide participation in new sports and created great community spirit. The project has enabled volunteers and schools teachers to act as positive role models for the young men and women by inspiring a passion for sport and increasing self-esteem.
The Sports Coaching project also ties into the Charity’s work in Girl’s Empowerment. Before the project was launched few women chose to be part of sports team, but with volunteers help there is now an established and successful men’s and women’s football team who compete against local teams.
It’s a relaxed team volunteering environment and there is flexibility to get involved with other volunteer roles within the village too such as Building, Teaching, Early Learning and Photography.
